Nous avons ainsi pu comprendre que les clés étaient avant tout intérieures : techniques de respiration et de relaxation qu’elle nous a fait pratiquer avec succès, gestion du temps, nouveau regard sur le rôle de nos émotions et vision plus positive sur notre capacité à nous adapter aux profonds changements que connaît actuellement le monde du travail.

The evening was hot (due to the absence of air conditioning!), but several representatives of political parties were still able to discuss the result of the European elections of June 7th. Moderated by Elisabeth Humbert-Dorfmüller, the debate assembled the French Socialist Party, the French Green Party, the Modem, the British conservatives and the German SPD. Questions were numerous, and the opinions rich in contrast, but everybody remained respectful. Politics are also an issue at LSE!

On May 11 2009, ALSE France organized a debate “Europe and France: prospects in the midst of an economic crisis”. The debate, held in a Parisian brasserie, was introduced by Jean Peyrelevade, former CEO of several large companies in the banking and insurance sector, and Stefen Collignon, who has been teaching in a number of prestigious European universities and author of numerous books on monetary economics and the political economy of regional integration. The discussion, moderated by Stephane Cossé (MSc. International Relations, 89), was taking place one month before the election for the European Parliament, shedding therefore an interesting light on what effective medium-term policies should be in the years ahead.. For both speakers, resolving the crisis required further economic integration in the European Union. Based on the example of the European Central Bank (which is the most respected and renowned institution in Europe), Jean Peyrelevade called for new instruments such as the setting up of a European Public Debt Agency as well as more budgetary resources in common. Stefen Collignon called for a better integration of the concerns of the public opinions within the European institutions and a more transparent democratic process in the Union. The debate was nicely concluded by Roland Dumas, Honorary Alumni, former Minister of Foreign Affairs and President of the Constitutional Council, who brought an optimistic note by saying that the European Union needs periods of crisis to become stronger and more united.

The Christmas Party attracted around 50 people in the premises of the Lagardère Foundation. After a very jolly concert, with operette and opera arias in four languages, we finished the year with a cocktail. The other attraction of the evening was a wine-tasting workshop, kindly proposed by an LSE alumni..

Le 3 Décembre 2008, près d'une centaine alumni de la LSE et d'autre écoles se sont réunis à l'Ambassade de Grande-Bretagne pour écouter l'analyse de Christian de Boissieu, professeur à l'Université de Paris 1 et Président du Conseil d'Analyse Economique auprès de Matignon, sur la crise économique actuelle et la position de la France. Après un exposé d'une heure centré sur quatre points, concret et vivant, Christian de Boissieu a répondu librement à une quinzaine de questions très diverses de l'assistance. Le débat s'est terminé par un cocktail dans les beaux salons de l'Ambassade britannique

Le 18 juillet dernier avait lieu le lancement officiel du GREG en France, à l’initiative de Charles Savary (MSc Regional and Urban Planning 2005). Réunis rue La Boétie dans les locaux de Jones Lang LaSalle, partenaire de l’événement, 28 professionnels de la finance immobilière et autres anciens de la LSE ont débattu des conséquences de la crise financière sur l’Investment Management immobilier. Autour des deux intervenants, Jean-Christophe Bourreille, European Director de LaSalle Investment Management et Karl Delattre, Directeur Général Adjoint de BNP Paribas REIM, les participants furent nombreux à réagir, parmi lesquels François Trausch, PDG de GE Real Estate France, Raphaël Brault, Managing Director chez Morgan Stanley, Jacques-Yves Nicol, International Director du fonds Aberdeen Property Investors, … 9 élèves ou anciens de la LSE étaient aussi présents, ainsi que le Président des Friends & Alumni of LSE in France, George Grosz.

Le LSE GREG s’intéresse aux problématiques majeures du secteur immobilier et réunit des dirigeants de la finance immobilière et des anciens de la London School of Economics. Fort de plus de 260 membres à travers une quinzaine de pays, il connaît une nouvelle dynamique avec son développement actif en France. Sous l’impulsion de Charles Savary, la branche française ambitionne d’organiser un événement par trimestre.
